TAAN participates in Eastern Regional Tourism Fair
Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) participated in Eastern Regional Tourism Fair 2012 held in Biratnagar from March 22-24. Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Lokendra Bista Magar inaugurated the fair amid a function organized in Birendra Sabha Griha. The three-day fair was organized to promote local tourist attractions and provide a forum for tourism entrepreneurs to exchange their experiences and lessons learnt. “We disseminated information about trekking, adventure tourism and new trails developed in recent years,” Machhindra Acharya, who represented TAAN in the fair said, adding: “Most of the visitors were found interested toward Great Himalaya Trail.” TAAN displayed maps, brochures and DVDs of newly launched trekking trails like Nagi-Narchyang, Lower Solu, Panchpokhari, Tsum Valley and Dhorpatan. TAAN representatives also informed the visitors about trekking and responsible tourism practices. The event had about 20 stalls, showcasing tourism attractions in different districts. Most of the visitors were students and many people were unaware about the fair because of the lack of effective publicity.
