Lower Manaslu Exploration begins
A 12-member delegation led by Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) left Kathmandu on March 16 to explore Lower Manaslu area in Gorkha district. The team has representatives of TAAN, SNV-Nepal, District Development Committee-Gorkha and Dharche-Manaslu Tourism Development Committee. It also includes cartographer, videographer, photographer and report writers. Gopal Shrestha, executive member of TAAN and leader of the exploration team, said the team would explore the area, study availability of infrastructures and design new trekking routes. “We will publish maps of the area and also produce documentaries and promotional materials to promote the route,” he added. The expedition will progress through Manakamana Temple, Gorkha Bazaar, Bhachek, Barpak, Laprak, Dharche Danda, Lapu and Arkhat. The team will return to Kathmandu from Arkhat. “We might also venture on another 14-day trip through Rupina La Pass if we get support from local stakeholders,” Shrestha added.TAAN recently concluded exploration of Kanchanjunga region. The association is busy preparing maps, itineraries and documentary of Kanchanjunga region. The new routes and promotionals will be unveiled by organizing a special program .
